ABOUT KARMA AND THE LAW OF ACTION / REACTION - ACERCA DEL KARMA Y LA LEY DE ACCIÓN / REACCION

ABOUT KARMA AND THE LAW OF ACTION / REACTION
Sometimes we may think that life is unfair and there is no justice at all in this world.
The different situations and circumstances may appear unfair… and yet there is all happening under a perfect plan of creation. We may not understand the meaning behind everything, but this does not mean it is just wrong.
Duality and the pairs of opposites exist on this physical plane of existence: good and wrong, light and darkness,...  Our experimentation leads us to our soul evolution, life after life, influenced by the law of action, which is the law of Karma (cause and effect).

“The definition of Karma, -according to Paramahansa Yogananda- is “Action” or specifically, the effects of past actions, from this or previous lifetimes. The equilibrating law of karma, as expounded in the Hindu scriptures, is that of action and reaction, cause and effect, sowing and reaping. In the course of natural righteousness, each man by his thoughts and actions becomes the moulder of his destiny. Whatever energies he himself, wisely or unwisely, has set in motion must return to him as their starting point, like a circle inexorably completing itself. An understanding of karma as the law of justice serves to free the human mind from resentment against God and man.”

Quoting Yogananda:

“The seed-effects of our actions do not always immediately sprout. They remain hidden, ready to germinate into the seemingly sudden and unexpected events of life. Then we mistakenly think them to be caused by an external fate. But there really is no such force as fate. Our lives are governed by our past actions”

“It is inevitable that evil actions bring evil or suffering; and good actions bring good or happiness.”

“Individual as well as collective actions produce vibrations in the ether that affect the world in good or bad ways”

“The karmic law explains the seeming injustices that occur from the very birth of human life. It also gives hope to all.”

There is no God punishing or rewarding us, just the harvesting of results of past actions, during the process of the evolution of the soul, in which we are immersed.

According to Yogananda:

“Our misfortunes are due to our sins, in this life or past lives. Souls come to earth to work out sins. When they have overcome, souls become free to be one with God again.”

“ Karma exists for man so that he may learn from its workings the wisdom of returning from multiplicity to unity. Transgression of karmic laws delays man in his spiritual evolution”

Our sins are no other thing as deviations from the right behavior and the divine laws.

On the other hand, we may not be fatalists about our past deeds: the effects of whatever we have done may be changed. Through our thoughts and works in the present, we can shape our future because we are the true masters of our destiny.

“Nothing rules you. You are the architect of your destiny”- Paramahansa Yogananda

We may be wondering, “What can I do to help myself to get rid of these undesirable effects that are affecting my life?”
The most effective way to destroy the effects or seeds of our past actions is through development of concentration, through the practice of meditation, illumining the super consciousness, and through the performance of right actions, free from desire for the fruit (outcome) of action.

It is thus very important not to lose faith and not to take things too seriously, cultivate our relation with our Real Self, always work for the good and strive to be better day by day, trying to help those around us in the best way we can.

Never give up. There is always a reason for everything, a lesson we may learn, a situation we need to experience…. Just keep on trying to do your best.

Love, Daya

Citando a Yogananda:

HOPE IS OUR LIFESAVER - LA ESPERANZA ES NUESTRO SALVAVIDAS

HOPE IS OUR LIFESAVER

We all have difficult moments.
Sometimes the difficulties are such that we may lose our hope, even when we think that our mind is well centered and focused.

In my personal case, after going through a period of intense connection and inner calmness, I have lately experienced a period of intense physical, mental and spiritual suffering. I had even lost hope for some days, which has been really painful for my soul.
I tried to work actively on it, but I had no strength at all, being totally overwhelmed.
I asked myself: What is the reason for this persistent suffering? What do I have to learn? What else do I have to try to be in good physical, mental and spiritual health? Do I have a solution? Is there some professional who can really help me? Can I really help myself? Have God forgotten me for a while?
After some “endless”days, the situation got better, and my spirit lifted on, helping me to carry on with the remaining physical issues. Without apparent reason I was suddenly filled with an intense joy and bliss coming from within, as blessings showered upon me. All of this happened during Babaji´s commemorative day, being Babaji a mahavatar, one of the gurus of the lineage of Paramahansa Yogananda. I just could not be more grateful, being able to meditate deeply with a renovated love and enthusiasm. The day after I met a wonderful doctor who I trust and who is really helping me. My dear ones were really caring and supporting me. After this, I could understand that Life finds always its ways to teach us and we have different rythms for learning.
It is very common to experience ups and downs: sometimes it seems we are reaching the heavens and sooner or later we are again biting the dust .
In these circumstances I have learnt it is extremely important to keep the consistency of the sadhana, not stopping the spiritual practice no matter what. We may lose hope for a while, but we may also remember that it is a matter of time that we regain it, and we better work actively on it if we want to recover from our challenges as soon as possible!

In my case, and due to my imaginative and ethereal nature, I see these changing situations as a reminder to keep myself earth-grounded and not to think I am better than others or beyond the physical plane of existence just because I am starting to feel some things. I bite the dust again and again so my ego cannot be too much inflated and it is thus remembered where he truly belongs. This lesson of humility, happening again and again, has a deep rooting effect, being learnt not only intellectually, but felt internally, as part of my own Self. Who am I to give lessons to others if I am not still a master of my own Self? I can just share my experiences, filled with empathy and love, hoping they are valuable for somebody who is a true seeker of Truth, as I am.

Looking back to these past days, I was able see my own lesson, learnt instantaneously. It came to my as words: “Don´t lose your hope. Grace is always there for you. You just need to be in tune to receive it, you just need to believe. You also need to practice the gift that you have, your sadhana, with all your love. These teachings and spiritual practices deserve your love, because they are emancipating you from this body to Spirit.”

I then came across these valuable words, from Yogananda´s teachings:

“ If you find your smiles momentarily buried in the tomb of sadness, resurrect them! Smile though the storms of suffering shriek around you.  God knows that it is because your vision is still clouded by ignorance that you are tossing on a sea of trials. . He knows that you must battle the storms around you. But he also knows that the little ark of your life is moving toward Him and that eventually you will behold Him as the Spirit that is in everything.”

“If Mr. Sorrow comes, do not give him strength by acknowledging his presence. If you feed him with the nectar of your tears, he will stay, and soon he will have himself at home throughout the mansion of your life. Laugh at him the very instant he arrives, and he will go away. If he tries to intrude his presence again, let him feel the fists of your will power. Throw him out of your life!”

“If you are guided by the Divine Consciousness, then even when the future seems absolutely black, everything ultimately will come out all right. When God guides you, you cannot fail. If you faithfully and devotionally practice true meditation techniques and principles they will emancipate you, because they are from God”

Paramahansa Yogananda, Lesson S-6 P-134

Sometimes words, when read at the right time, have a great healing effect and provide a relief to the soul.

How many times I do receive the right words, the right counselling!
How can I not be grateful for the wonderful guide I am receiving in my path?
But… What is suffering then? Is it part of the inevitable duality of this worldly illusion in which we are immersed?  Is it a way to infinity? Is it a way to get rid of past karma? Is it a way to learn when there are no other means left? Is suffering one of the teachers we have for our soul evolution? Is it a compass showing us we are looking in the wrong direction, trying to correct our life´s deviations? Is it a way to prove our faith, our hope, our commitment, our persistence..?

Each of us experiences different situations and has to learn different lessons from them. It is on us to complain about our lives and challenges or just keep on experiencing and learning what is given to us, and so moving on to further lessons and not getting stucked in the same.

We may also see our efforts as coins put on the bank of karma: these are the riches that are worth to accumulate. Every good action is a seed for a good reaction, to be further experienced. So, even when we feel hopeless, and most importantly in those moments, it is good to remember the huge potential we have to model our future life based on our present efforts.
Let us keep that in mind the next time we go through a challenge!

May all of us be able to be conscious and keep our hope, faith and determination as lifesavers during this journey, till we are finally able to reach our Divine destination.

Love

Daya

INTERIORIZATION: THE FIRST MOVEMENT - INTERIORIZACIÓN: EL PRIMER MOVIMIENTO

INTERIORIZATION: THE FIRST MOVEMENT

What is our degree of awareness?
Are we leading our lives or rather than that, our lives seem to lead us, being immersed in thousands of responsibilities?
Have we ever questioned ourselves the real reason for our existence, the way to obtain a true happiness that we cannot find in this external world of ours?
Do we have the time and interest to stop for a while and just BE? Just being aware of our breath, being aware of our body... learning to remain conscious, more and more each time.
This is the first step towards our real progress: to start looking within more than without… and from within, be able to perform the external duties in a much more efficient and conscious way, being aligned with the source of everything.

In which degree are we ready to start an essential and fundamental transformation?

“People are occupied with outward things. That means that the consciousness is turned towards external things – that is, all the things of life which one sees, knows, does – instead of being turned inwards in order to find the deeper truth, the divine Presence. This is the first movement.

You are busy with all that you do, with the people around you, the things you use; and then with life: sleeping, eating, talking, working a little, having a little fun also; and then beginning over again: sleeping, eating, etc., etc., and then it begins again. And then what this one has said, what that one has done, what one ought to do, the lesson one ought to learn, the exercise one ought to prepare; and then again whether one is keeping well, whether one is feeling fit, etc.
This is what one usually thinks about.

So the first movement – and it is not so easy – is to make all that pass to the background, and let one thing come inside and in front of the consciousness as the important thing: the discovery of the very purpose of existence and life, to learn what one is, why one lives, and what there is behind all this.

This is the first step: to be interested more in the cause and goal than in the manifestation.

That is, the first movement is a withdrawal of the consciousness from this total identification with outward and apparent things, and a kind of inward concentration on what one wants to discover, the Truth one wants to discover. This is the first movement…

One can´t jump over this stage. One must find one´s soul, this is absolutely indispensable, and identify oneself with it. Later one can come to the transformation.” - The Mother, Pondicherry

May all be able to start our own interiorization movement towards our own Self, towards a real transformation, and also be able to expand it to others, acting as contagious engines, propelled by the fuel of our longing and aspiration.
May all be able to evolve further, going from the bark of the surface to the core within, marching towards the next step in human evolution.

_______________

Daya

BEYOND THE THINKING MIND - MAS ALLA DE LA MENTE PENSANTE

BEYOND THE THINKING MIND

I would like to propose a reflection: Are we really masters of our mind, or is our mind dominating us?
To what extent are we aware of our thoughts?
Are we able to find that space of inner calm from which to observe the events of our life and to be aware of the present moment? Or have we decided to suffer, dragged by the stream of life and our thoughts without exercising the position of power and responsibility that corresponds to us by divine inheritance?

According to Eckhart Tolle, a great master of our time:

"Most people spend their lives imprisoned in the confines of their own thoughts. They never go beyond a narrow and personalized sense of identity, made by the mind and conditioned by the past.

In you, as in every human being, there is a dimension of consciousness far deeper than thought. It is the very essence of your being. We can call it presence, alert, unconditioned consciousness. In the ancient teachings, it is the inner Christ, or your Buddha nature.

Finding that dimension frees you, and frees the world from the suffering you cause yourself and others when you only know the "little self" made by the mind, who is the one who directs your life. Love, joy, creative expansion and lasting inner peace can only enter your life through that dimension of unconditioned awareness.

If you can recognize, even from time to time, that the thoughts that pass through your mind are simple thoughts, if you can witness your reactive mental and emotional habits when they occur, then that dimension is already emerging in you as consciousness in The one that occurs the thoughts and emotions: the timeless internal space where the contents of your life unfold.

The stream of thoughts has an enormous inertia that can easily drag you. Every thought is meant to be of great importance. He wants to capture your full attention.
The thinking mind is a useful and powerful tool, but also very limiting when it completely takes over your life, when you do not realize that it is only a small aspect of the consciousness that you are.

When you are immersed in compulsive thinking, you are avoiding what is. You do not want to be where you are. Here now.

Spiritual awakening is the awakening of the dream of thought. "

ECKHART TOLLE

May all of us are able to awaken from the dream of thought and finally be liberated from our own mind, which is the ultimate source of all suffering.

GOD IS ALL THERE IS

A question was asked to the saint Ramana Maharsi: “What is God?”
After a long silence he replied, in simple but yet profound words:
“What is, is God”

Let´s reflect upon this, upon God or the creative intelligence that sustains the universe, in the light of the teachings of Ramana Maharsi and Robert Adams:

Because God is, the Universe is, everything else is.
Everything that exists is God.
Everything, from the tiniest microbe to the whole galaxy, is an expression of God. Everything is God.

No thing exists the way it appears.
Who is seeing all this? To whom does this appear?
The “I” is experimenting this vision.
If it weren’t for the “I” there would be no universe, there would be no God, there would be no creation.
The body and the universe are a manifestation of the mind.

The Real Self exists as the Self, as Pure Awareness. There is only Absolute Reality, Absolute Consciousness. But it appears as if there are things in the universe, as if there was a universe. There are people, animals, vegetable and mineral kingdom, planets… All this things appear as real.

The world, by itself, is an illusion. But God, as the world, is real.

There is no duality in God. The universe is ultimate Oneness beyond concepts. The mind cannot comprehend this.

Where did God come from and why does God appear as all these things?
What is Its purpose?
If God created the world… who created God?
It goes beyond thought.
You will know the truth about these questions when you quiet your mind.
When the mind is no longer in existence the answer will reveal itself, for YOU will be the answer.

One day you will awaken to the fact that the God you have been praying to is none other than YourSelf.

How can this God be separated from you?
You begin to understand that “I am That”… I am that I am.
You find freedom in yourself. You begin to see that God is not just within me, but I am in God.
You realize: What I had called God is Consciousness. I am conscious. I am aware. I exist. I am. You begin to see YourSelf as omnipresent. You are no longer limited by your body or the personal I.

The body, the “I”, is an instrument for good in this world.
It is our duty to show love and compassion.

Whatever you are into, whatever you are going through, if you sit in the silence and practice Self –Inquiry (asking to yourself: “who am I? What is the source of this “I”? and reflecting upon it, listening to the silence), things will begin to stir within you. You will find that your feelings change, your reaction changes, you become less selfish, you develop loving kindness, you understand what this universe is all about. And finally you are at peace.

There is something within you that remembers. Something within you knows. If you sit still, put a smile on your face, these things will come forth.
A sincere person has an open heart and the highest truth is revealed. The brain may sometimes not remember words, but the Heart never forgets. And when you rest in the Silence, you sit still, you remain quiet, something begins to work within your Heart as you become a living embodiment of the Reality, of the Truth, of the Self. Always spend time by yourself, sitting alone in the Silence, being quiet. Be still… and know… I am God.

The life you are living now is an experience. It is all of the mind. Once you know there is no mind, there is no longer the experience you have got to go through. Transcend the mind, find out who you really are and be free. Get rid of the stuff that is keeping you from awakening. Give up your concepts, your preconceived ideas, the dogmas, the belief system you have had for many years. Develop kindness, compassion to any living thing. Everything is holy. Everything is sacred. Everything is God. God is all there is.

“When you are without thoughts,
when you are without needs, without wants,
without desires,
then you are God.
You are the Universe.
You are Divine Love.
You are Beautiful”
- Robert Adams

May all of us be able to observe Silence and awaken the divine Being that lies within us, finally finding our liberation.

¿quién creó a Dios?

Yo mismo soy consciente. Estoy presente. Existo. Yo Soy. “

Eres hermoso/a"

- Robert Adams
